Our Volcano hike and Geothermal tour is an excellent introduction to the influence volcanic activity has had on the landscape of Iceland. This tour explores the Reykjanes Peninsula near the island's capital, Reykjavík. It lies on the mid-Atlantic ridge crack line, responsible for the region's earthquakes, eruptions, and other seismic activity.
The volcanic eruption in Fagradalsfjall began on March 19th 2021, after a few weeks of near-constant earthquakes in the area.
The lava has now slowly spread across hills and valleys, and only time can tell what new mountains and landscapes will be formed, but at least you can have front-row tickets to a part of this piece of Earth‘s history.
Great service and an even better stay.
