Our Sustainability Commitment

Iceland's landscape is extraordinary and fragile. We are committed to protecting it for future generations.

Iceland receives over two million visitors per year — a remarkable number for a country of just 370,000 people. The Golden Circle alone sees hundreds of thousands of visitors annually, and the pressure on its fragile ecosystems, ancient geology, and small communities is real and growing.

As a tour operator, we have a responsibility to lead by example. We are not just visitors to Iceland's landscape — we are its stewards. Every decision we make, from the vehicles we drive to the partners we work with, is guided by a commitment to protecting the extraordinary environment that makes our work possible.

This is not just good ethics — it is good business. The Golden Circle's value as a tourist destination depends entirely on the preservation of its natural and cultural heritage. We are committed to ensuring it remains extraordinary for the next generation of visitors.

Our Commitments

🌱

Carbon Offsetting

We offset 100% of our vehicle emissions through certified Icelandic reforestation projects. Our vehicles are regularly serviced for optimal fuel efficiency, and we are transitioning to electric vehicles as the infrastructure develops.

🏪

Local Sourcing

We partner exclusively with Icelandic businesses — from the farms that supply our snacks to the hotels we recommend. Every krona we spend stays in Iceland and supports the communities along the Golden Circle route.

🚶

Minimal Impact

We strictly follow Leave No Trace principles and educate every guest about responsible behavior at Iceland's sensitive natural sites. We never take shortcuts across vegetation, never disturb wildlife, and always stay on marked paths.

📚

Guest Education

Every tour includes a briefing on responsible tourism in Iceland — from the importance of staying on paths at Þingvellir to the dangers of Reynisfjara's sneaker waves. Informed visitors are better visitors.

🤝

Community Partnerships

We partner with local farmers, artisans, and community organizations along the Golden Circle route. A portion of every tour booking goes directly to the Þingvellir Conservation Fund.

♻️

Zero Waste Operations

Our vehicles carry reusable water bottles, cups, and containers. We have eliminated single-use plastics from all our operations and encourage guests to bring their own reusable bottles.

Responsible Behavior on the Golden Circle

We brief every guest on responsible behavior before each tour. Here are the key principles we ask all visitors to follow:

  • Stay on marked paths. Iceland's moss and vegetation can take decades to recover from a single footstep. At Þingvellir, the ancient moss covering the lava fields is hundreds of years old — please stay on the paths.
  • Never touch geothermal features. The water at Geysir can reach 100°C. The ground around hot springs can be unstable. Always stay behind safety barriers and on marked paths.
  • Take nothing, leave nothing. Iceland's rocks, plants, and wildlife are protected by law. Do not collect rocks, pick plants, or disturb wildlife. Carry out all waste.
  • Respect wildlife. Iceland's Arctic foxes, birds, and marine life are wild animals. Observe from a distance and never feed or approach them.
  • Follow safety warnings. At Reynisfjara and other coastal locations, sneaker waves can be fatal. Always follow safety signs and stay well back from the water.
