Photograph the Northern Lights Like a Pro
This specialised tour is designed for anyone who wants to capture stunning photographs of the Northern Lights. Led by a professional photographer who is also an experienced aurora hunter, you will learn the techniques of long-exposure night photography while chasing the aurora borealis across Iceland's dark skies.
Expert Photography Guidance
Your guide begins with a briefing on camera settings: ISO, aperture, shutter speed, and white balance for aurora photography. At each location, they help you compose shots with interesting foreground elements like mountains, churches, or reflective water. Whether you shoot with a professional DSLR or a smartphone, your guide will optimise your settings for the best possible results.
Smaller Group, More Attention
With a maximum of 10 participants, you receive significantly more individual attention than on a standard tour. Your guide can spend time with each photographer, adjusting settings, suggesting compositions, and sharing professional techniques. The smaller group also means less light pollution from torches and phones.
The Right Locations
Aurora photography is as much about the foreground as the sky. Your photographer guide selects locations not just for clear skies but for compelling compositions: a lone church silhouetted against the aurora, mountains reflected in a still lake, or the lights dancing above a lava field. These are locations that only a local photographer would know.
Practical Details
Bring a camera with manual mode, spare batteries (cold drains them fast), and warm clothing. We provide tripods. The tour departs earlier and runs longer than our standard Northern Lights tour, maximising your photography time. All the same guarantees apply, including free rebooking if the lights do not appear.
