Chase the Aurora Borealis

The Northern Lights are one of nature's most spectacular phenomena, and Iceland is one of the best places on Earth to see them. Our Northern Lights Minibus Tour takes you away from Reykjavik's light pollution to the darkest skies in southwest Iceland, where the aurora borealis dances in vivid greens, purples, and reds across the Arctic sky.

Expert Aurora Hunting

Seeing the Northern Lights requires more than just looking up. Our guides are experienced aurora hunters who use real-time solar activity data, cloud cover satellite imagery, and intimate knowledge of local geography to find the best viewing conditions each night. The route changes every evening, and your guide may drive up to 100 kilometres from Reykjavik to find clear skies.

The Experience

When conditions align and the lights appear, the experience is truly magical. Your guide will help you understand what you are seeing, explain the science behind the aurora, and assist with camera settings for photography. Between viewing sessions, warm up with hot chocolate and traditional Icelandic kleinur doughnuts served from the minibus.

Our Guarantee

Nature cannot be guaranteed, but we can guarantee our commitment. If the Northern Lights are not visible on your tour, you can rebook for another evening at no additional charge. This guarantee is valid for the entire duration of your stay in Iceland, giving you the best possible chance of seeing the lights.

Practical Information

The tour runs from September through April, departing at approximately 21:00 (exact time varies with sunset). Dress as warmly as possible with multiple layers, insulated boots, and warm accessories. The tour lasts 4-5 hours depending on conditions. On nights when the aurora forecast is very poor, we may cancel the tour and offer a free rebooking.
